A friendly, welcoming, non-auditioned choir based in Warminster (Wiltshire, UK).
Thomas has been conductor of the Athenaeum Singers since November 2022.
The Athenaeum Singers are a mixed-voice, non-auditioned choir based in Warminster, Wiltshire. The choir has around sixty members who rehearse each Tuesday evening. We perform two major concerts each year, usually featuring the main choral classics but also including lesser known byways of the choral repertoire. We also perform contemporary music, including world premiers of commissioned works. In our concerts we are supported by professional soloists and instrumentalists.
For our next concert, we will be performing Bob Chilcott's St John Passion on Saturday 23rd March 2024 in the Minster Church of St. Denys in Warminster. This performance will be accompanied by the British Sinfonietta Ensemble, with soloists Matteo Placidi, William Stevens, Stephen Hamnett and Olivia Jane Gomez. The concert will also include Josef Rheinberger's Stabat Mater in Gm and Maurice Duruflé's Ubi Caritas.
We recently welcomed Bob Chilcott to Warminster to lead a Come and Sing Day on his amazing work.
