A friendly, amateur choir with an 85-year, long-standing reputation for providing a top quality experience for both audiences and singers.
In November 2023, Thomas started as the new Musical Director of Cheltenham Choral Society, following their 85th Anniversary concert. Thomas takes over from fellow Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama alumni, Alexander Thacker, and will be only the fifth conductor in the choir's 85-year history.
Thomas' first concert with the choir will be a Christmas concert with St. Mary's Prestbury and the Beauregard Academy on Monday 18th December, before conducting the choir (alongside Charlton Kings Choral Society) in a performance of Haydn's 'Thereseinmesse' and Mozart's 'Requiem', with full orchestra at Tewkesbury Abbey on 25th May 2024.
For the choir's next concert, Cheltenham Choral Society will perform at Great Malvern Priory on Saturday 14th June 2025 and at St. Andrew's Church in Cheltenham on Wednesday 18th June 2025, for a concert of European Sacred Music. Both performances are non-ticketed events.
We rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 7:30-9:30pm at St. Andrew's Church, Montpellier Street, Cheltenham GL50 1SP. You are very welcome to come along and sing at a few rehearsals to see if it is for you!
